We caught up with Allison Miriani, CEDS from LDM Global and asked her some questions.
Tell us a bit about your position and responsibilities. What do you do for LDM Global?
As the marketing coordinator for LDM Global, I establish consistent messaging for our brand, educate the sales team on that messaging and ensure consistency across mediums. I conduct market research calls with clients and prospects to understand their pain points and develop solutions to address those pain points. Developing content to educate clients and prospects is one of my top priorities. Interviews with clients and internal project staff form the basis for case studies, thought leadership articles and infographics.
Because LDM Global has data centers on three continents – U.S., U.K. and Australia – and an additional office in the Cayman Office, I get to wear a lot of hats and focus on content and offerings for each location. That makes my job really challenging but fun.
How long have you been in this position?
Tell us a little bit about how you got here?
I have a journalism background and previously worked at newspapers for about 10 years doing editing and design work. That work translates really well into marketing as I enjoy interviewing clients for case studies, writing press releases and email newsletters and designing infographics and brochures.
However, I stumbled onto eDiscovery somewhat and feel very lucky to have landed at LDM Global. The company culture promotes a healthy work-life balance, and we focus on core values that I believe I possess and help to make the company perform better for our clients. Those core values are accountable, organized, results, can-do, fun and innovative.
What drove you to seek certification in e-discovery and particularly the CEDS?
Being fairly new to the eDiscovery industry, I knew I had a lot to learn about eDiscovery. The CEDS certification was a great challenge and offered a clear path to learning all about eDiscovery.
How do you think it will benefit you in your career?
Studying for the CEDS exam while simultaneously interviewing LDM Global’s internal experts about certain topics allowed me to gain a wealth of knowledge in eDiscovery at a rapid pace. This knowledge has already paid off in a more thorough understanding of eDiscovery topics, best practices, workflows and more. I use that knowledge to write educational content for our clients and prospects.
Additionally, it’s just nice to have the CEDS credential after my name to add a little clout since I am fairly new to the industry. It shows I have made the effort to learn about eDiscovery and taken the further step of testing that knowledge.
What would you like to see out of an organization like ACEDS?
ACEDS offers one of the best educational opportunities in eDiscovery. In addition to the trainings offered in preparation of the CEDS exam, their newsletters help members keep apprised of current trends and issues. I would like to see ACEDS continue to lead education through their webinars and trainings while helping members stay up to date on issues in the industry.
Tell us one fun fact about yourself that you would like others to know?
I work out of our Steamboat Springs, Colo., office, which is five minutes from the ski area. I’m enjoying the fall weather but already excited for snow – and snowboarding! When the ski area is that close, it’s not a stretch to sneak in a few runs at lunch.
