There is much written about the Policing Vison 2025, alongside the need for transformation in policing, and the pressure to cope with the surge of digital evidence and the adoption of new technologies. All of these elements are perfectly encapsulated in a project recently undertaken by Merseyside Police.

It is a story that will resonate with many other forces: investigators waiting weeks for a recorded 999 call, months for photographs or CCTV footage, and having to log on to a dozen different systems to pull other evidence. This was compounded by the challenge of sharing evidence that typically involved the use of CDs.
