ACEDS Wishes for Safety and Health for the Gulf Coast

We're grateful that our ACEDS community is resilient, and for those reporting status and those reaching out to help.  For members in impacted areas, ACEDS is proactively triggering its hardship policy. Your membership, test, or recertification period will not expire during this crisis.  Call when you are ready and we will respond. Many ACEDS members and staff have been wondering how to help.  We are compiling a list of organizations on the ground for people to consider.

Doug Austin of eDiscoveryDaily blog, suggests the following:

"What can you do to help?  Consider donating online to the Houston Food BankGalveston County Food Bank or Corpus Christi Food Bank.  Or the Coastal Bend Disaster Recovery Group.  And, if you’re in the Houston area, you can volunteer at the American Red Cross here or by calling 713-526-8300.  Several in the Houston area have already donated their time and helped with boats to evacuate those stranded by flooding.  It’s just one of the signs of what makes our city so great — Houstonians helping each other."

For attorneys and legal people, the State Bar of Texas has a volunteer form for pro bono work to get people back in homes and on their feet:

The Texas Tribune has a few more:

ACEDS stands with the entire Gulf Coast as our community, their loved ones and friends make their way through the flooding. Please reach out directly to Mary Mack (mary.mack@barbri.com) or Kaylee Walstad (kwalstad@aceds.org) for support for you or your organization.
