About the Panelists: 

David R. Cohen
Reed Smith

David is the chair of Reed Smith’s Records & E-Discovery Group. He has over 30 years of commercial litigation experience in a variety of subject
matters. David serves as special e-discovery counsel in many cases, represents companies in complex litigation matters, and also counsels clients on records management and litigation readiness issues.

David was involved in setting up the E-Discovery Special Masters (EDSM) program in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania,
and he has been appointed to serve as an EDSM in three separate cases by three different Federal judges. He also served on the Pennsylvania EDiscovery
Rules Subcommittee, chaired by Allegheny County, PA Common Pleas Judge Stanton Wettick.

In addition, David has designed and presented e-discovery training programs for judges and neutrals around the country; has authored
numerous legal publications; and is a frequent presenter at continuing legal education seminars regarding e-discovery, technology, and litigation tactics.

Matthew F. Knouff, CIPP/US/E, CEDS is VP & eDiscovery Counsel with Complete Discovery Source, Inc., an award-winning, global data management and eDiscovery services provider and technology developer Matthew leads CDS’s international development efforts and advises law firms, corporations and government agencies worldwide on eDiscovery process, privacy law compliance, information governance policies and practices, cost & risk reduction strategies, and defensible deployment of technology during legal proceedings. He has led numerous successful discovery and investigative efforts in 28 countries across five continents. He is on the Board of Advisors of the Cardozo Data Law Initiative and is an active member of the EDRM, ABA, NYSBA, ACEDS, and The Sedona Conference Working Groups 1 & 6. Matthew has developed numerous CLE programs and is a frequent lecturer, blogger, writer, and speaker on issues related to eDiscovery, cross-border litigation, data privacy and information governance. He was a featured speaker during the keynote of Relativity Fest 2015 and has been published in both the North Carolina School of Law Journal of Law and Technology and the Richmond Journal of Law and Technology. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina School of Law, and active Board Member with the NY-based non-profit Education Through Music, is a guitar and auto enthusiast and lives with his partner and two kids in Forest Hills, NY.
