President - Scott A. Petz is a Member in Dickinson Wright’s Troy office.  Mr. Petz focuses his practice in the areas of commercial and business litigation, class and collective actions, labor litigation, consumer protection, and condemnation and land use.  Mr. Petz was selected to the Michigan Super Lawyers Rising Stars list in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, and also received the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Barristers Section’s 2013 “One to Watch” award.  Mr. Petz has presented and published in the eDiscovery area.  Mr. Petz received his B.A. from Kalamazoo College, cum laude, and his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School, magna cum laude.  His email address is spetz@dickinson-wright.com

 

Vice President - Phillip Shane counsels clients involved in litigation and government investigations, especially on issues associated with the identification, preservation, collection, review, and production of electronically-stored information (ESI). His diverse experience includes product liability and class action cases, regulatory investigations, high-profile financial fraud, patent infringement suits, contract disputes, labor and employment actions, legal malpractice/unauthorized practice cases, antitrust litigation and pre-merger antitrust investigations. Treasurer - Tom Isaacs has extensive experience representing a diverse lineup of businesses in litigation, including in product liability, personal injury, contractual, antitrust, regulatory, corporate governance and business tort matters. Tom has been responsible for all phases of such cases, including pre-litigation claim assessment, development and execution of case strategy, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, expert witness retention and preparation, settlement negotiations and overall case management.  Tom currently serves as National Discovery Counsel for a major automotive manufacturer in state and federal courts throughout the United States. His eDiscovery experience is very well-rounded, covering everything from document production, collection and review, as well as litigation holds and clawback agreements. He is well-versed with federal and state eDiscovery rules and requirements, and has recently published two articles on eDiscovery topics involving predictive coding and adverse influencing. He also gave a presentation on recent eDiscovery case law and current trends at the State Bar of Michigan Annual Day of Education. Professionally, Michigan Super Lawyers selected Tom as a Rising Star in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. Secretary – Penny Jones serves as Harness Dickey’s Relativity Administrator and Litigation Support Specialist as well as Senior Technical Trainer.  In this role, she is responsible for educating and training the lawyers and staff in the areas of ESI, LAW Pre-Discovery and Relativity as well as processes, imports and exports data.  For more than twenty years, Penny has enjoyed a diverse career in law firm IT, including court room evidence presentation in more than 25 trials in both state and federal courts.  Penny is a boat owner and loves to golf. Public Relations – Denise B. Bach, CEDS is a Director of Business Development with KrolLDiscovery. She has extensive experience in Digital Forensics and eDiscovery and works with law firms, corporate counsel, litigation support managers and paralegals to bridge the gap between the legal process and technology. Denise’s experience with eDiscovery projects from collection through production spans many industries including manufacturing, automotive, finance, retail, marketing, government, energy, healthcare and insurance. Her expertise involves matters related to numerous forms of government investigations including anti-trust, as well as large complex commercial litigation, theft of intellectual property and other labor and employment matters. Prior to joining KrolLDiscovery, Denise was a Managing Director with Stout Risius Ross, Inc. (SRR) and held positions over the past 25 years within the legal industry at both law firms and corporations as well as at national eDiscovery service providers. Membership Beth Trudell, CEDS is a Senior Relativity Analyst at XACT Data Discovery.  She has over 20 years of experience in litigation support and eDiscovery in both vendor and law firm environments.  At Xact Data Discovery she works closely with law firm personnel and corporate clients assisting with Relativity best practices and workflows.  She also provides Relativity training to review teams, new users and advanced Relativity users.  Prior to joining XACT Data Discovery, Beth served as the litigation support manager at Plunkett Cooney, where she was responsible for all aspects of the firm’s litigation support technology, eDiscovery operations and document review center management. Chairman of the Board / Advisor - Barbara Bennett, CEDS has more than 30 years of experience working in the legal industry and has worked specifically in the eDiscovery area for the last 12 years.  Barbara currently works for the world’s seventh largest automobile manufacturer in their IT Legal department where she helps manage the eDiscovery litigation software platform.  Barbara also works with legal counsel advises regarding document review workflow best practices, searching protocols and client productions.  Barbara holds the CEDS certification from the Association of Certified eDiscovery Specialists, and is also a Relativity Certified Administrator.  Being passionate regarding the education surrounding eDiscovery best practices, Barbara participates on the ACEDS’ advisory board is the former President of the ACEDS Detroit Chapter. Educational Advisor - B. Jay Yelton, III is a veteran attorney who has spent much of the past two decades designing and implementing plans and programs that help clients manage electronic documents, prepare for litigation and develop eDiscovery strategies.
