The following letter can be used and edited to fit your particular circumstance. For example, the price may be different if the package you choose does not include E-Discovery Essentials, or if you have a discount. Likewise, the time necessary for study will vary for those with more complete experience.
Data sheets can be obtained here if you wish to include them.
After xxx years in eDiscovery, I would like to broaden my knowledge and skills to deliver even more value to the business by becoming a Certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS) through the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS).
Benefits to FACILITY
Taking the CEDS exam is an excellent way to demonstrate my knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and dedication related to e-discovery best practices. In a late 2016 survey of the CEDS community:
- More than 88% use skills they learned from their certification(s) in their work-field/career.
- Over half have been with their current organization for over five years.
- Managers of CEDS report faster onboarding, better communication, fewer errors and better case outcomes as reasons to hire or promote a CEDS.
- CEDS also contribute to better data reduction, paying for the certification with tighter control over one case production.
The ACEDS curriculum and testing includes the end-to-end e-Discovery process. Topics include information management, litigation readiness, project planning, litigation hold implementation, collection planning and implementation, data processing, data culling, review planning, document review, data production, project management, the legal framework and obligation, international disclosure, ethics, technology and budgeting.
I am ready to take this next step in my career, and would like to discuss the possibility of having FACILITY support me by paying some or the entire certification package fee of $1995. Having FACILITY show its support would be a demonstration of your commitment not only to my professional development but also to ensuring the best in FACILITY electronic discovery practice.
ACEDS offers their Certified E-Discovery Specialist exams year round, through Kryterion, an international provider of proctored exams delivered in a secure setting. The training is online and can be completed during off hours, with hour and a half live review sessions (archived). There will be one day when the better part of the day will be dedicated to the four-hour exam with travel to and from the test center.
I have enclosed an information sheet detailing more of the benefits of this certification. Please let me know if you have any questions, or would like more information on the ACEDS certification.
