Special Counsel becomes first e-discovery staffing firm to require all permanent project managers to become CEDS-certified

The publicly traded company, a legal staffing leader, will also give opportunity to temporary project managers to earn CEDS credential after one year, at Special Counsel’s expense

Miami – The Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists announced today that Special Counsel, the largest provider of legal staffing services to corporate legal departments and law firms in the United States, will require all of its permanent project managers to earn the Certified E-Discovery Specialist certification.

Christopher Gallagher, Senior Vice President at Special Counsel, in New York, said, “Working with ACEDS to certify our permanent project managers allows us to feel certain that we have hired the highest quality individuals who not only have knowledge of the law but also of the workflow and processes that surround the review.”

Special Counsel will also be CEDS-certifying several of its top executives.

“We are proud that such a household and respected name in the legal staffing and e-discovery community as Special Counsel is taking this important step to assure the core competence of its project managers. This will also serve its many clients well and buttress the confidence and comfort they have in the knowledgeable and skillful work of Special Counsel’s professionals,” said Lanny Morris, Executive Director of the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists.

“Special Counsel is taking a crucial step to reduce the time, cost and risk of the assignments its project managers undertake. Requiring the CEDS certification will foster confidence within Special Counsel and with the clients it serves,” Morris added.

All Special Counsel temporary project managers will be required to undergo CEDS Certification Examination training and be eligible to earn the CEDS certification after one year of continued employment through Special Counsel.
